Knots Flooring is a locally owned and operated company, serving Denver since 2007.
Our team brings decades of hands-on experience working with hardwood, laminate, tile, and more – both in occupied homes and commercial spaces. We undertake projects involving repair, refinishing, and installation. Each job is approached with the same attention to detail – including preparation of the surface, finish durability, and thought to how the floor will wear over time.
A well-done floor can significantly change the character of a space and contribute to the overall value of the property. Choices around the type of floor, finish, and layout affect how a room comes together and how it looks over time. Learn more about our company and the many services we offer below.
We’ve been installing, refinishing, and repairing Denver flooring since 2007. This kind of experience can be challenging to find in Denver and the surrounding communities. Since our genesis all those years ago, we’ve grown steadily through repeat work and referrals. We’ve remained locally owned, just a short drive from downtown Denver.
Over time, we’ve built long-standing relationships with homeowners, property managers, and business owners who value consistency and beautiful work. Many projects come to us through word of mouth, often from clients who have worked with us more than once. We continue to operate with the same priorities we began with: good communication, realistic timelines, and work that stands up to time.
As a family-owned business, our reputation matters on a personal level. Much of our work comes from referrals, which means every project reflects directly on us. That accountability shapes how we communicate with our clients, the way we schedule our projects, and the standards we hold ourselves to on every job.
We’re members of the Denver/Boulder Better Business Bureau (BBB) and maintain strong ratings on HomeAdvisor and Google. We achieve these ratings by listening carefully, answering every question clearly, and staying engaged with clients throughout the project rather than only at the start or end.
Feedback is always welcomed, and adjustments are made when something needs attention. Clients know who they’re working with and what to expect, which is why many return for future work or recommend us to others.

We take precise measurements and plan each install so that planks align with traffic patterns and structural considerations. Clients can choose from a variety of wood species, plank widths, and finishes, allowing the floor to complement the existing design of the property. Our install technique ensures the planks sit flush, creating a stable surface that looks great from every angle and prevents issues appearing further down the line.

Having your hardwood refinished can breathe life back into an old floor that has been worn down over time. We carefully sand away the old finish, address imperfections, and apply new stains and protective coatings. This process restores the wood’s natural tone while maintaining the character of the original surface. Refinishing is often the best solution when hardwood shows signs of wear but the underlying boards remain sound, giving a home a new look without full replacement.

We can repair specific areas of your floor that are damaged. This includes replacing scratched or worn boards, correcting gaps, or addressing cupping and lifting. We blend our repairs with the existing floor, so the surface looks consistent and continuous. Common causes like moisture, heavy traffic, or accidental impact are treated with techniques designed to preserve the overall integrity of the surface.
Our shop is located in Aurora, just a short drive from Downtown Denver. We work across Aurora and Denver, including the surrounding Metro Area, as well as nearby cities and suburbs. Even if you’re based some distance from Denver, give us a call or send us a message – we’ll let you know if we can help.
Material selection depends on the existing structure and the type of wood being used. This can include moisture barriers, fasteners, adhesives, and underlayment systems chosen for compatibility with the substructure. Using the correct installation materials helps reduce movement, noise, and premature wear once the work is complete.
Yes. We work on commercial flooring projects for offices, retail spaces, and other active business environments. These jobs involve larger surface areas and higher daily foot traffic, meaning the materials, install methods, and scheduling all need to account for sustained use without disrupting daily operations.
Depending on the scope of the job, we can plan the work around your operating hours to minimize disruption to your business. The same workmanship standards apply, with added consideration for durability due to constant wear, rolling loads, and long-term maintenance demands.
Sure! We install carpet for residential and business spaces, whether it’s a single bedroom or a full property. Our work includes the removal of existing carpet, surface preparation, and precise fitting so the carpet sits flat and wears evenly over time. This means clients don’t need to find a separate Denver carpet contractor on top of wood flooring professionals when planning a project. We help you select carpet based on foot traffic, how the space is used, and maintenance expectations.
Before residential flooring work begins, homeowners should plan for some short-term disruption to daily routines. Furniture will need to be cleared from the work area, and access to certain rooms may be limited during the install or refinishing phase.
Dust control measures are used, but pets should be kept away from the work zone for safety and to protect finishes while they cure. Drying and cure times vary by the products used, affecting when surfaces can be walked on or when furniture can be moved back. We review all these details with you in advance so there are no surprises once work is underway.
The right choice depends on layout, expected wear, and how you want the space to feel over time. Wood species, board width, and finish type all affect maintenance and longevity. We walk you through all of these flooring options during the estimate so you can base your decisions on realistic performance expectations, budget, and how the floor will age in daily use rather than on appearance alone.
No. We don’t operate a public retail store – instead, projects begin with an on-site visit where measurements are taken and the conditions of your space are reviewed, so there’s no need to make a trip out to a flooring shop. Samples and choice of products can be discussed during that visit too. This allows decisions to be made in the context of the space itself rather than under showroom lighting or pressure from retailers.
